Reese, Finch, Reese stops breathing, h/c

(Anonymous) 2013-12-09 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Reese is hurt - maybe poisoned, or sick, or someone did something to arrest his breathing. Suddenly Finch is in the position of finding a way despite his physical problems of doing rescue breathing for Reese. It's agony but he keeps going until Reese can breath again on his own or help arrives.

Re: Fill: Breath, Reese&Finch [Reese/Finch if you squint], Teen

(Anonymous) 2013-12-23 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
It's a bit short, but I hope that you like it!

Harold hadn’t heard from John in hours. He nervously drummed his fingers on the desk, waiting for something, anything.

He bit his lip and wondered if he should call John.

No,” he thought firmly, resolutely.

Everything is okay. John is okay. He’ll call any minute now….”

Harold thought back to that meditation seminar.

Breathe in slowly, through the nose, and exhale through the mouth…

His breaths were shallow, uneven, despairingly tremulous.

Harold couldn’t endure it any longer. His fingers flew to the call button,
and he entered the shortcut for John’s number.

“Mr. Reese, are you there?” he asked urgently, trying to iron the quaver out of his voice.

When a moment passed, Harold felt his heart jump into his chest.

“John?”

His voice was higher, nakedly frantic, but he didn’t care.

He heard a soft, muffled noise on the other end of the line.

“F….Finch?”

“Yes, John?”

Harold’s hands were shaking now.

“I…I’m at her apartment, Finch. She’s okay. They got me good, though.”

There was a weak laugh and then a horrid, gasping cough.

“John, don’t move. I’ll be right there,” Harold said, and his words were clipped, precise.

He traced the GPS signal to Canal Street and raced out to his car. A jolt of pain shot up his spine, but he ignored it, willing his body to move and comply with the urgency in his mind.

“Please hang on, John,” Harold murmured.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his car keys, muttering prayers and hoping against hope that John was alive, please God.

The trip took a little over eight minutes, but it felt like the longest moment of Harold’s life, longer than the stretch of time between MIT and the Machine, or Iowa and New York.

He shook his head and collected his racing thoughts, forcing himself to think about the reality and gravity of it all, of John lying face down in an apartment, breathing his last…

It was almost too much to bear, but Harold gritted his teeth and parked on the side of the road.

He jumped out and felt that same searing pain pour down his spine like hot wax, and he grimaced.

Harold’s hand few to his neck, but he stayed in motion, hobbling past the janitor, up the stairs, running toward something, anything, just as long as John was there…

When he reached room 5C, Harold was winded and weak, but his concern overtook him, and he searched the room for John.

“John, where are you?” he cried, stumbling over pizza boxes and Budweiser cans, cursing in the dim light.

“Harold?”

The voice was nearly imperceptible, a desperate sigh, but Harold heard it nonetheless.

He whirled around and followed the sound to the back of the apartment.

John was there, lying on his back, and his face was covered in his own rapidly-drying blood.

Harold limped to his side and knelt down with some difficulty, calling his name all the while.

“John, what happened?” he asked, and his voice was a shuddering whisper.

“H-hit me over the head, Finch. I can’t-,” John wheezed. Harold looked at him in alarm. John’s chest was rising with rapid, shallow breaths, but he didn’t seem to be getting enough air.

“John, where does it hurt?” Harold murmured. He realized that the question sounded idiotic, but he needed to determine the extent of his partner’s injuries.

John lifted a weak arm and pointed at his head. His hand dropped to his chest, and his breathing slowed again.

“Hang on, John,” Harold said urgently. He put his hand on John’s arm and shook him with a firm, steady grip, but John didn’t move.

His eyes drifted shut, and Harold moved his hand to John’s face, cupping his chin.

“Wake up, John!” he commanded, but there was no response. Frantically, Harold felt for a pulse and breathed a shaky sigh of relief when he found one, weak and thready under his fingertips.

Harold’s relief was short-lived, however, when he noted that John’s chest was barely moving at all.

“Breathe, breathe,” he urged, but John’s head rolled to his side.

Harold’s mind was racing. What was wrong with John? Who had done this to him?

Harold was sure that he would hunt them down later, but he shifted his attention to his partner’s rapidly-declining status.

“It could be a concussion,” he mused, but there was no time, and he heard his own shallow, panicked breaths.

Breathe.

Harold leaned John’s head back and lifted his chin up.

He didn’t have much medical training, but the movements were natural, ingrained.

Harold felt his stiff neck scream in protest, but he lowered his head slowly until his mouth was flush with John’s, and he gave two breaths.

He put a hand on John’s chest and felt it rise once, twice, and he waited, begging John to breathe, please breathe.

John gasped once, and Harold’s eyes flew open.

He hadn’t even realized that they were shut.

“John? Can you hear me?” he choked, and John made a small noise.

Harold closed his hand over John’s and felt a sob of relief escape his throat. He blinked hard and wondered if he would’ve actually cried if-

No.

Nothing had happened. John was still here, safe and alive.

“John, I’m going to call for an ambulance. You probably have a concussion, and you- you stopped breathing,” Harold said quietly.

He could still hear the tremor in his voice, but it didn’t matter. Nothing mattered, except for the rhythmic rise and fall of John’s chest under his palms.

Reese goes rogue

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps in a fit of noble self-sacrifice, or perhaps he's truly gone 'bad' - up to you. Now Finch and the team have to track him down...and Reese being Reese, this is very difficult.

RPS, catholicism kink

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I have some nice (/ nicely whumpy) fic/art that explores Caviezel's catholicism and how it relates to kink?
How about sub-drop and aftercare during the filming of Passion? I suspect Mel Gibson is a bad dom, oh no /o\

John/Harold, John/Joss, or OT3, artist!Harold who offers to draw/paint Joss and John

(Anonymous) 2013-12-20 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
This has been stuck on my mind for a while. Michael Emerson is an illustrator and did some work for newspapers way back, and I like to think of his artist persona seeping into Finch's creator mind. Finch is an artist with code, but I'd like to see a fic where he is an actual artist, and he and Grace went on sketch crawls. Or you know, just artist!Finch in general. As an artist, I'd be elated to see a fic about this. I could even make fanart or something.

They have some time off because the Machine's not spitting out any numbers, bless her little servers, and Harold unearths a set of watercolours from somewhere in the library. John asks him about it, Harold reminisces and offers to paint him, and sure.

(If he painted Shaw, Bear, and Fusco, I'll give you my heart in exchange.)

FILL: A Subtle Art (1/?) (Reese, Finch) [Gen] [No Warnings Apply]

(Anonymous) 2014-08-11 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
(Hey OP, had to try filling this prompt! ...And failed to post it in the right place. Probably won't be any more than gen or pre-slash, sorry - much as I love the pairing it's difficult for an aro ace to write. Apologies for any mistakes etc. More to come shortly!)

It was a quiet morning. After rescuing the previous day’s number, Reese was content to lounge around the library and rest, the faint clicking of Finch’s fingers on the keys echoing through the dusty bookshelves as faint background noise while he idly browsed the shelves.

With an amused grin, Reese spotted and picked up a copy of A Beginners Guide to Code. He flicked through the book, wondering if he should take it back to where Finch was working to sit and read. It would be nice to expand his very rudimentary knowledge of code and the dry look Finch would undoubtedly give him would make it worthwhile.

As he was deciding, his eyes caught on the last few pages. It took him a moment to recognise his face staring out at him from above the copyright line, but the likeness was uncanny. He was staring at a picture of himself, wrapped in his overcoat and looking off towards the edge of the page with an almost wistful look on his face.

Reese supposed the drawing was more of a sketch – the rougher, gestural lines toward the edges and the bleed of the pen on the paper, the slight smear on one corner where a hand had rested before the ink had dried and the loose blocking in of the shadows all suggested it had been drawn unplanned and without much delicacy – but as Reese’s own artistry tended towards stick figures, he was very impressed.

Finch must have drawn it, of course. It was odd to think of the other man sitting in front of a canvas instead of a computer, but now he thought of it, Reese figured it made a kind of sense – Grace had been an illustrator, and he’d had the pleasure of being called out by Finch on his ignorance of the art world before. Finch couldn’t be coding all of the time, and he liked academic pursuits – opera, theatre, literature – why not art?

Either way, this was clearly a skill that Finch kept hidden. Reese had seen no evidence of any kind of sketchbook before, though it was very like the other man to hide his talents away in library books, as he had done with their whole operation.

A thrill ran through him as it struck him that he had unearthed another of Harold’s secrets. John allowed himself a moment of smug satisfaction in which to savour the occurrence, before flicking back through the book to see if there were any other sketches hidden amongst the pages.

He struck gold halfway through a chapter on incorporating cascading style sheets into a basic webpage: amongst the gaps in the text and diagrams were smaller sketches, hardly more than doodles, all of them featuring Bear in various positions. They must have been sketched out in the library, each one abandoned and left incomplete when Bear had moved. A particularly hurried sketch, no more than a few lines used to capture the likeness, showed Bear looking away, eyes steady and ears alert. It was undoubtedly the dog reacting to either Reese or Shaw entering the library, which explained the rushed nature of the drawing; Finch would have quickly moved to disguise what he had been doing.

A small smile tugged at his lips as he looked at the dog, deftly captured on the page. This unexpected talent somehow made Finch seem more human, more approachable. Something not connected to their line of work in any way.

There were no further images in that particular book, but now that Reese had an idea of what might be hidden in the pages of the other neglected tomes he began to hunt through them, trying to pick books that Finch would not mind defacing either due to scorn or irony.

It took him until lunchtime to find several more impromptu sketchbooks: a battered survivalist guide and a novelisation of The Terminator are filled with drawings of both Shaw and himself in various stages of completeness, the latter even containing an image of Reese standing off against the iconic robot. Reese liked to think that he wouldn't put himself into a position where he had to go one-on-one with a killing machine, but he had to admit the picture had a certain drama to it.

There was even a surprising find inside a copy of Basic Law Practice, with Fusco’s portrait adorning each chapter title page in various emotional states. Reese felt that the frustrated and sarcastic ones were the best likenesses, but that was likely due to Lionel’s consistent response whenever Reese showed up.

Folded up and tucked into the back of War and Peace was an old receipt for eggs benedict with a quick sketch of Joss on the back. Thinking about it was too painful, so Reese carefully folded it back up and returned it to its place on the shelf, before piling the other books in his arms and heading back to where Finch was still sat, working away. The look on Finch's face when he realised what Reese was holding would hopefully live up to his expectations.

Shaw/Root, Lapdance

(Anonymous) 2013-12-23 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Root gives Shaw a lapdance. Shaw is in denial; Root is lovin' it.

Request: Finch/Reese, showing off, dating

(Anonymous) 2013-12-27 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Harold wasn't the most popular student at MIT, actually, he was the butt of everyone's jokes- -poor reclusive geeky Harold, with only one friend and 0 probability of ever dating anyone.

Which means that when class reunion comes, Finch (Wren?) cannot help himself but to strut around with his incredibly hot, incredibly charming, incredibly skilled boyfriend on his arm.
John doesn't mind.

Jossed, according to Arthur. But it would still be fun.

Reese, Finch - Gen, Fusco thinks Reese is pregnant

(Anonymous) 2013-12-27 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe he's drugged or concussed, but he hears Finch lecturing Reese about doing something 'while in his condition' and is convinced that somehow Finch knocked Reese up. And he goes to Carter, but she's pissed at all three of them and thinks a little payback will do them no harm.

Reese has to grudgingly put up with Fusco being all protective of the father to be because until Fusco is better there is no convincing him that Reese is not expecting.

Root rescues Finch, Reese is conflicted

(Anonymous) 2013-12-29 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
So let's say Reese continues to sulk somewhere in Colorado while Root rescues Finch and Shaw from Control. When Reese comes to his senses and returns, he finds out about it and doesn't know how to feel about Root and Finch and himself anymore. Could be Reese/Finch, or gen, or other pairings between those characters.

Dark Reese AU

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly would love to see a very dark John Reese. He still takes the job Finch offers and saves people---but when push comes to shove he takes it out on poor Finch.

I want a scared, trying to reason with, Finch~
John doesn't hurt Finch, not badly. Maybe he gives him a warning, but doesn't abuse him for fun.

What he does do is hold Finch against his will, and hurts him in other ways.

Non-con if Anon wishes, personally I welcome this, but its up to the writer.

AU Reese never made it out of China

(Anonymous) 2014-02-24 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
After Ordos, Chinese security caught Reese and interregated him. They didn't get much, but they dump him in a prison/labor camp and pull him out occaisionally to have another go while waiting to see if the CIA is willing to trade for him. They're not, until Stanton reappears in the States and they really need to know what happened. Meanwhile Finch has been using a series of 'helper monkeys' but TM periodically gives him Reese's number. When the CIA agrees to trade for Reese, Harold somehow manages to swoop in and grab him out from under them. What happens next?

Reese/Finch Uni!AU with jealous Reese

[personal profile] laidbacktionist 2014-02-27 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I was disappointed when there's a severe lacking of high school AU in AO3 and none in University AU, so I'd like to prompt one.

Reese and Finch are students in the same university, Finch a computer science/engineering student and Reese a typical jock/criminology student. Maybe they met by chance. Maybe Finch has always had a bit of crush for Reese. Or maybe they took a class together and paired up together for a group assignment and that's how they first met.

Maybe Reese is starting to fall for the brilliant 'geek' that's always witty and a touch aloof.

Maybe Finch thinks that there's no way that Reese would be interested in him.

Maybe Reese is jealous of Nathan because they're so close.

Maybe they're being absolute dunderheads who don't communicate.

Either way, take it wherever you like :) OP would love an uni!AU rinch, the rest is just bonus.

(Double bonus if they do the frick frack and Reese tops :))

Elias/Reese: crime boss Elias has Reese in his power

(Anonymous) 2014-03-03 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Elias loves watching John fight -- how beautiful yet dangerous he is in motion. He loves seeing the normally calm, controlled operative become desperate. For him, it's the perfect blend of art and erotica.

So, he gets some leverage on Reese (Finch, Carter, baby Leila...) and either forces him to be his operative (on a short leash with close surveillance) or his personal gladiator (to fight any number of desperate battles for his delectation).

Of course, after these fights, Elias eases his arousal with John, laying hands (and more) on the tall, lean man's bruised, sweaty skin and lapping up every morsel of degradation, frustration, self-loathing... and self-betrayal.

Shaw/Root/the Machine

(Anonymous) 2014-03-05 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
The Machine tells either Root or Shaw what to do to the other in bed, or is otherwise actively involved in their sex life-- less as an assist, and more as the third person in a threesome. Maybe Shaw lets the Machine act or speak through her? Or Root approaching Shaw in the first place at the encouragement of the Machine.

Basically, some AI/lady/lady lovin'.

Reese still has Machine access

(Anonymous) 2014-03-05 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
At the end of season 2, when the Machine shut down, both Root and John answered the phone that allowed the Machine to talk to them. We know that the Machine is still contacting Root, which has Finch pretty freaked out.

So, naturally, John hasn't told him that the Machine is still talking to him, too. As soon as he got back from Rome, he just started getting phone calls. Finch has enough to worry about, and the Machine hasn't actually asked him to do anything. It's like it just wants someone to talk to. Finch is its creator, Root is its prophet, and John is... what, its bff? Oh well, it's hardly the weirdest thing that's ever happened to him.

House would be such a pain in the ass. That glass would be COVERED with potential threats!

Gay club fiasco - Finch/Reese

(Anonymous) 2014-03-24 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The Machine gives them a number who works as a bartender in a gay night club. For two consecutive nights Reese tries to go undercover but can't do his work properly because everyone keeps hitting on/molesting him. So finally Finch decides to accompany him as his sugar daddy! I'd love some crack on this one.

PoI/The Sentinel Reese/Finch

(Anonymous) 2014-04-12 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, people, things seem to have slowed down tragically here, but I'll put my idea here in hope that maybe somebody will be interested.

There is a serious lack of PoI/Sentinel fusion in the fandom, seriously. I would literally weep in joy if I could have a fic about Sentinel!John and Guide!Finch doing their PoI business and failing to resist each other because of course John is Harold's Sentinel and Harold is John's Guide... *puppy eyes* Please ?

Prompt: Cliché Fic -- Do Over/Go Back In Time

(Anonymous) 2014-04-26 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't look like this is a very active community, unfortunately :( ... still:
I urgently want PoI Do Over Cliché Fic. I want Reese to go back in time for some reason, preferably unintentionally, and wake up shortly before he meets Finch for the first time. Maybe Life on Mars fusion fic? Idk...

Cheesy fic is good fic. I want Reese to be full of epic man pain, only to realise, that he's got yet *another* second chance to do things right, which he then proceeds to do.

I don't care about the pairing, it's all fine. Or gen fic. I don't care, I'm in for the time travel. And the man pain.

Awake!

(Anonymous) 2014-04-30 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent prompt which made me think of this one: Awake! In one life John stayed home, left the Army as planned, married Jessica, and has a boring, normal job and a house and some kids. And a boat. In the other, he's our John Reese. And he doesn't know which one is real.

Fill: Awake! 1/1

[personal profile] kiranovember 2014-05-09 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
After nearly beating Peter Arnt to death, John doesn't sleep again until he's dropped him off at his favorite Mexican prison; the one with the very obliging warden who will take anyone for the right price. He gets a cheap hotel room and crashes and wakes up in the morning next to Jessica.

She looks a little older than he remembers, as she did in the videos he watched at the house. There's noise from downstairs, children's voices, dishes clinking, flatware clattering, and he says, "What the hell?" Jessica leans in and kisses him, morning breath be dammned, and tells him the kids are making him breakfast in the hope that he'll take them out on the boat like he promised and not let himself get called into work.

It's a dream; it has to be a dream, so he gives himself over to it completely. His children, Emily, ten, Jason, nine, and Molly, seven. The sailboat, a twentysix-footer named "Second Chance." Jessica, warm and alive in the circle of his arms as they brace their feet against the opposite bench and cling to the tiller, the boat heeled over as they tack into the wind. It's a perfect day, complete with picnic lunch, and that night they make love the way he's dreamed about for years, slowly and passionately. They fall asleep spooned together his arms wrapped around her as though he's planning to hold on to her forever.

In the morning he wakes up in Mexico.

John Reese and Harold Finch are RELATED!

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I would like someone to write about Reese and Finch being related to one another, preferably them being siblings. Say Finch ran away from home and his younger brother Reese has been searching for him ever since. Maybe Finch has been keeping tabs on him, wanting him to have a normal life and be happy. Then the MACHINE and NUMBERS get involved. How will this effect their relationship? Do they still keep it a secret from one another or will it be revealed in the most drastic way possible? Do what you will with the idea.

Harold/Grace pairing, with John as their son

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
While I was doing research, I found out that Finch is at least fifteen years older than Reese and it just gave me a great idea for a Harold/Grace story...

Harold and Grace are two fifteen year old's who are madly in love (they are basically soul mates), but one day Grace finds out she is pregnant. Their families are furious, and Harold's parents take him away from Grace and their newborn son. Grace runs away with her baby, setting up new identities for them (Such as Grace Hendricks, and John Reese Hendricks, however you want to do it). Finch has a new identity now, broken hearted by the fact he wasn't strong enough to stay with Grace and John, and has been looking for them ever since, not knowing they have new identities.

Many years later, Harold and Grace meet each other again, but don't know who the other is...

This could be set up in the POI world, or maybe an AU, it is up to you. Just want to see Harold and Grace get back together, have a very protective John (You could have a John/Jessica or John/Carter paring) who gives Harold the evil eye. And how the truth will be revealed to everyone! INCLUDE BEAR!! HE IS AMAZING!!

John Reese / Harold Finch RINCH with baby Leila

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
A young Leila (could still be a baby or a preschooler, some where in-between) suddenly becomes an orphan (maybe she was abused by her grandparents or they died, up to the writer) and it placed into the house hold of her new Guardians Harold Finch and John Reese.

They slowly start to become a family, even with dealing with all the NUMBERS along with John and Harold dealing with their relationship. Then something happens, that makes Leila think she is a burden to them and runs away, only for John and Harold to find her and tell her that they love her and wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. Their bond and family becomes even stronger. HAPPY ENDING!

Please include some domestic bliss, family moments, and BEAR!! PLEASE!

Any Roose shippers?
