I basically marathoned S1 PoI as it was nearly over, so I didn't get to read a lot of S1 meta/squee/episode reactions. I would love to read some fannish thoughts! So, if you have posted episode reactions/etc on tumblr/LJ/DW, link it here!

Here's my Person of Interest tag--not all episode reactions, some stuff relating to Yuletide etc., but a handful of reactions are certainly in there!

And to keep anyone from having to cross-check dates, the post where I am entirely non-specific and just pass out about the ending, that's roofied!Finch and the "Good night, Nathan." (AIE SIGH!)

I only watched POI a short while ago, and then immediately proceeded to gush about it. :-) There's S2 stuff mixed in as well, though, because I marathoned the entire series up to S2x16 or so...

This is my "general reaction" post, I aired some canon gripes here, and lastly I expressed my fanfic yearnings. ;-)

Now, I started to rewatch POI, and I never do that so quickly. But it's wonderful to watch the characters and their development now that I know what is to come, and can notice and appreciate the small touches (like John telling Jessica "nobody is ever saved", which has so many plot echoes).

Followed that last post and oh my god why has this (Someone hits on Reese, and Finch doesn't react much at all, projecting cool confidence and the absolute conviction that Reese has no interest whatsoever in anyone else. And someone hits on Finch, and hey presto, the millionaire's indolent boytoy is suddenly all looming dead-eyed whispery menace, scaring the crap out of the hapless would-be interloper. ) not SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED EXISTING from sheer awesome yet? It really, really, really needs to. Like really.

I know, right? How does that story not already exist?? I so want to read it... *sob*

It's good to know I'm not alone! :-)

Anyone got time for a quick beta? Around 3,000 words. (It would be fantastic if you've read any Lord D'Arcy, but I'd be grateful for any help.) Send me a message with your e-mail, and I'll respond with the story.

Catching up, though slowly. Okay, s2ep10, prosthetic arm guy---HOW is he driving a motorcycle? It's his right hand, correct? The right hand controls the throttle and front brake and he didn't even use it to pick up the stuff in the glass case!

Am I missing something?

Hmmm... the writers don't know how motorcycles work? Or he built himself a special motorcycle with the controls switched to the other side?

Maybe, but the LEFT side has a pull lever for the clutch, so he'd still have to have a pretty accurate and strong grip on that side too, though not nearly as important as STOP and GO.

Oh well. It was pointed out to me that he also uses his right hand to hold a gun, which also requires more control than shown by the surveillance camera actions, so basically it was a regular non/poorly-gripping prosthetic long enough to get them the info to identity him, then it was an overly advanced Luke-from-Star-Wars Vader bionic hand after because too hard to work around otherwise.

Ah well. I should ignore it, I know. It's just annoying.

Sorry. Wish there was a cool answer. But he could have modded out the bike in some way, like anon said. There are hand brakes for people to drive cars without great use of their legs. I could see some sort of mod for a bike maybe.

Well, he could have modded his bike with a suicide clutch (foot clutch) on the left, plus a left hand shifter, and put a rocker lever on the right throttle that his prosthetic hand could move. It would be one hellish bitch to ride but it's mechanically possible. I'm a bit more concerned with his totally inexperienced passenger (Finch) messing around with the phone and throwing his balance off!

Yeah, I looked it up and there are mods for hand amputees though it does look like it's a not easy. I did also think that there's no way Finch would be able to do anything on his phone much less something complicated as a tracking/pairing force on the fly when his inexperience and injuries had to mean holding the fuck on would be challenging! Considering his neck's range of motion, I'm not sure Finch could be safe riding a bike on his own either since I can't see how he'd be able to look before changing lanes and such without moving his whole torso. Hmm.

Since the guy was holding a gun on Finch later in a pretty confident grip with that same had, it's obvious the "prosthetic" that was somehow obvious on tape was just a gimmick. I wish they'd used something else.

Looks like I went clean through the Finch/Reese tag on on AO3. What might I have missed that's elsewhere?

So I haven't seen all the episodes yet, and my sense of spatial relations is pretty weak anyway. I have real trouble visualizing how the library is laid out, and I don't know if the couch and bed that show up in fic all the time are on-screen canon, or just inferred. Which eps would give me the best info on this?

I want to know too for a drawing I have in my head. I guess I could just fake it though. But if there's a couch in there somewhere, I'd like a picture!

The couch and bed are fanon. (In 1x02 Harold falls asleep at his desk... maybe they move in a couch after that.)

There's pretty much just the one room where they always are, with a close-able iron gate, and then outside the gate some stairs and a long hallway...

There's also a little nook with like a coffee machine and food and stuff, I think you can see it in one of the first two or three eps, and then it's also the episode where they put Leon in the library as a safehouse.

You should prompt on the prompt post for someone to draw you a diagram of the layout! That's totally a type of fanart, so why not? :D

I was re-watching 1x02 last night and they haven't even brought in the earbuds yet... Reese is either holding a phone up to his ear in every scene where he talks to Finch, or he has a huge dorky bluetooth stuck in his ear. Gotta say, neither one makes him look cool or tough, or is practical for a fight scene.

There is SO MUCH cute stuff in this episode. Finch doing push-ups because Reese mentioned it! Finch's hilarious blonde nosy co-worker! Nathan bringing Finch awards and tiny bottles from the mini-bar! John getting taken out by a small girl with a small knife!

Also, this is probably the first time John tries to feed someone in order to make them feel better-- he orders Theresa Whittaker a hamburger from room service, without her even asking or mentioning that she's hungry. :3

Okay, so I'm working on a Finch/Reese genderswap (I have a problem where I want to turn everything I love into lesbians, and I really love Finch/Reese), and I figure that Harriet is a pretty good swap name for Harold, but I'm kind of stuck on what to call John? I could just go with Joan, but then I kinda feel like I'm stealing from Elementary. And I could use Jane, except I... already used that for a James Bond genderswap... so yeah. Name suggestions?

Janet? Joanna? Jolie? Josie? Or, for boring neutral-ness, Jennifer. Especially if you're not changing the ages or the era, there are a kajillion Jennifers in Reese's age group.

Jen or Jennifer is a good idea, or you could switch John and Jessica's names- have John be the dead ex and Jessica the soldier. Unless your John is a lesbian...

Rewatching s1e1 and Finch promises not to lie to John. Then later on he tells Reese that he built a back door an off switch into the system. Later on we discover that Nathan was the one who built the back door. Did Finch lie or did he also build an off switch? I'm been wondering all along can we really trust Finch? I can't think of a good reason why someone would have that many fake id's. then there was that episode where he called the serial killer an amateur.

Does anyone have a timeline of Reese's time in the army and recruitment into the CIA? I can't seem to sort it out.

So, I was vaguely considering signing up for Not Prime Time, which is like Yuletide but for all the fandoms which have gotten slightly too big to be in Yuletide anymore (like Psych, The Big Bang Theory, White Collar, Leverage, etc.) but aren't huge megafandoms. And I was looking at their tag set of nominated fandoms & characters and I noticed that Person of Interest is on there. So, just FYI for anyone who might be interested, although I think there are less than 24 hours left to sign up...

I am desperate to follow some PoI roleplay accounts. Dreamwidth-style is easier on my brain, but tumblr is great too! (If there are any Nathan Ingrams out there I will cry diamond tears of happiness.)

I'm looking for places -- besides here -- to discuss aspects of rinch and other slash in POI. Is there any regular comm on DW or do most folks just post on their journals individually with reaction posts etc?

I haven't spent as much time on DW as I have on LJ and while I joined this comm a little while ago, I really hadn't spent much time exploring it, aside from reading some of the fic posted on AO3, until last night. And I mean all last night. Sigh... I was very happy to be bleary eyed when I finally fell asleep and happy to have found fics that I hadn't seen anywhere else yet and to revisit ones I'd read before. The prompts, the comments, the writing of the fills... it's all wonderful and I can see I'll be hanging out here a lot! Wonderful comm -- just had to say.
