Huh. Question; if Finch is a Mind then what's the Machine?

In my head, there are three ways you can work this:
1) "Finch" is a combination of both the human character and the capabilities of The Machine - because Ship Minds are complex and weird that way (and some of the GSV's are actually controlled by multiple combined Minds, I think?)
2) Finch is a ship mind, The Machine is a combat drone, or
3) vice versa.

Technically, I suppose it should be the latter, because as I recall, SC drones are closer to 1.0 value with biologicals, although still superior to them, like Skaffen-Amtiskaw, but I confess to just liking the idea of Finch-as-Ship-Mind, complete with whimsical name and humanoid avatar, for tea drinking, on-planet rescue hijinks, and sex other activities.
